Calculate transition compensation
Calculate a gross 2026 estimate using the correct monthly wage basis, complete service years and gross pay for all remaining months and days.
How do you determine the monthly wage basis?
- Include the applicable holiday allowance and monthly share of a fixed year-end payment.
- Overtime pay and shift allowances generally use the average of the last 12 months.
- Agreed variable bonuses, profit shares and variable year-end payments generally use a monthly average over the 3 calendar years before the termination year.
- On-call work, commission, piecework, short employment and absence may require different calculations.
- Reduced sick or leave pay is not automatically the correct basis.
Did the whole contract last less than one month? Use its total relevant gross pay and pay components due, including paid-out leave days, as both the monthly basis and remainder amount; enter 0 complete years.
This is a gross calculation estimate for employment ending in 2026. The tool does not establish entitlement, qualifying pay components or counted service. A settlement agreement does not automatically create entitlement to transition compensation. Permitted cost deductions, other agreed compensation and tax/net payment are not calculated.

Enter the gross monthly wage basis for transition compensation, including the pay components that must count. This is not necessarily just the basic salary on your payslip. Enter the relevant gross pay for the entire period after the complete service years, including every remaining month and day. Do not use net bank receipts or an arbitrary conversion of days into months. If there is no remaining period, enter 0. An unknown amount is not 0.
