The employee applies for an external job coach; the employer applies for an internal coach subsidy. Arrange support early: internal funding can be backdated by no more than four weeks.

1. Your situation
You need support at work because of illness or disability. Normally your contract must last at least three months for at least eight hours weekly. Ask UWV about the separate trial-placement route.
2. Conditions
An external coach belongs to a UWV-recognised organisation. An internal coach may be a suitable colleague trained by the employer. Your labour expert can help choose the appropriate arrangement.
3. Preparation
Describe practical work problems, tasks, hours, goals, coach and start date. Prepare the support plan and contract. Send medical documents only through the designated channel.
4. Apply
Employees use Aanvragen voorziening for external coaching. Employers use Aanvragen voorziening werkgever for internal coaching once the coach is known. Internal subsidy starts at most four weeks before the application is received.
5. Decision
UWV states a decision within six weeks. Internal funding is provisional before final settlement, which can produce an additional payment or repayment. Rates depend on intensity and hours; the official table applies from 24 hours, proportionately below that.
6. Next steps
Coaching covers at most 15% of working hours and normally lasts no more than three years; exceptions require assessment. Each internal application covers at most one year: reapply in time. Report changes and check the end date and objection instructions.
Is three years of funding automatic?
No. UWV assesses necessity and duration. Internal funding is requested for at most one year and settled later; continuation requires a new application.
