How do I object to a Dutch Wmo support decision?
What would you like help with?
Detailed explanation, checklist and sources
Has your municipality refused or reduced Wmo support, or awarded an unsuitable provision? Object to that municipality within six weeks after notification of the decision. Explain exactly what support is missing. A complaint, phone call or objection to CAK does not replace this.

1. Identify the decision and authority
This route concerns a Dutch municipal decision about your Wmo support, such as refusal, reduction, termination or an unsuitable provision. Record the decision date, notification, reference and effective date. A meeting report is not necessarily the decision. Complaints about conduct or service delivery and CAK contribution decisions follow different routes; check who actually decided.
2. Protect the objection deadline
The objection period is six weeks after notification. Check the decision's objection instructions and dispatch details; do not wait for informal discussions. Missing reasons or documents? Submit an identifiable objection in time with your name, address, date, challenged decision and signature, and request time to supplement it. Then meet the supplementary deadline. If you may be late, seek legal advice immediately; do not assume an exception.
3. Compare the assessment with daily needs
Request the assessment report and advice used. For each daily activity, compare what you cannot do, what help is needed, how often, and why the offered solution is insufficient. Identify factual mistakes and omissions concerning your own abilities, others' help or carers' workload. Provide relevant evidence only; a diagnosis alone does not determine the provision. Ask the municipality how to submit medical information securely.
4. Complete and submit your objection
Use the draft to prepare your own objection, remove irrelevant passages and explain the change you seek. Include name, address, date, decision reference, reasons and signature. Submit to your municipality's objection address or designated digital channel; ordinary email is suitable only if accepted for objections. Keep a copy and delivery/receipt evidence. Filing an objection is free, but professional assistance may cost money. We submit nothing.
5. Arrange urgent help separately
An objection does not suspend the decision: existing support does not automatically continue. If there is immediate danger or an intolerable interruption, ask the municipality for a temporary solution and seek legal help. With urgency and a pending objection, a separate application to the court for interim relief may be necessary. Court fees may apply; this letter is not that application and guarantees no temporary support.
6. Follow the procedure and next deadline
Prepare for any hearing using the file and your requested solution. The normal decision period is six weeks after the objection period ends, or twelve weeks with an advisory committee; extensions and other statutory postponements are possible. Check notices rather than assuming a fixed completion date. If you disagree with the decision on the objection, court appeal normally has a six-week deadline; follow that decision's instructions. Our own help request offers a legal follow-up but does not monitor or extend deadlines.

Can I wait for a meeting with the municipality first?
A meeting may help but does not protect the objection deadline. If needed, submit an objection in time and ask to supplement it. Check when any reduction or termination takes effect: an objection alone does not suspend it.

For each event, note the date, what happened and where the evidence is kept. Example: 3 October — letter received — correspondence folder.
Describe the solution you would like, such as an explanation of a deduction and repayment of the outstanding amount.
For example: which document is missing, who can provide it and what should I do first?
Record the date and its source. If unknown, note this and check promptly. This tool does not calculate or monitor deadlines.
After your conversation
These are your own notes. Confirm agreements with the other person; these notes do not prove their agreement.
This is your preparation, not a submitted request, objection or legally reviewed document. A tick records only your own progress. Check the procedure and deadline in the original letter.
