If you were previously declared unfit to drive or fit only subject to conditions and your health has improved, the CBR says you can submit a new Gezondheidsverklaring for reassessment. First discuss with your doctor whether that is worthwhile. A new application does not yet authorise driving.

1. Read the earlier medical decision
Collect the CBR decision, licence categories, restrictions and any advice on when a new assessment is worthwhile. This guidance concerns improved health after a Dutch medical fitness-to-drive assessment. A police investigation, compulsory course or criminal driving ban may also have its own procedure.
2. Discuss the change with your doctor
Discuss what has demonstrably changed since the previous decision and which current information matters. Your doctor can advise whether reassessment is worthwhile; the CBR decides fitness to drive. Your doctor's favourable opinion is not itself a new CBR decision.
3. Start the appropriate new assessment
Follow the official CBR route for a new health declaration. Answer fully and truthfully for the categories you need. Keep the confirmation and new application date. Correcting an error in a declaration still being processed is a different situation: contact customer service first.
4. Complete the requested examinations
The CBR may request further information, examination by a doctor or specialist and a driving test. Follow the specific letters and response dates. The declaration and any examinations cost money; check current fees before making appointments. Approval and identical processing times for every case are not guaranteed.
5. Check when you may drive
Check the new decision and your licence's validity, categories and conditions. Do not assume an application or better health removes an earlier restriction. With an expired licence you may not drive until you have a new valid licence. Have uncertainty about other driving bans assessed separately.
6. Keep objections and assistance separate
Reassessment because your health has changed differs from challenging the old decision. Do not let that decision's appeal deadline expire while preparing a new application. May I drive again as soon as my doctor says I am better?
That advice replaces neither a CBR decision nor a valid licence. First check the applicable restrictions, the CBR decision and whether you hold a valid licence for the category concerned. This page does not determine individual medical fitness to drive.
