How much Dutch AOW will I receive gross and net?
Your AOW depends on household status, insured accrual and deductions. From 1 July 2026, full AOW for residents of the Netherlands is €1,662.16 gross monthly if single or €1,139.39 per person if married/cohabiting. Holiday allowance is separate.

1. Check period and accrual
These figures apply from 1 July 2026 to full AOW while living in the Netherlands. Incomplete accrual or living abroad may produce different amounts. Check your awarded percentage; AOW age does not determine your amount.
2. Check household classification
Use SVB’s household assessment. Sharing a home does not always mean the married rate: living only with your children or parents can differ. Permanent separation and a partner entering care also require checking. Do not choose a category simply for its higher amount.
3. Compare gross and net
Standard net full Dutch AOW with payroll tax credit is €1,581.55 single or €1,084.13 per married/cohabiting person; without it, €1,285.22 or €880.96. These figures include payroll-tax and Zvw deductions; additional deductions and your overall tax position can differ.
4. Separate holiday allowance
From 1 July 2026, monthly gross holiday accrual is separately €104.78 single or €74.85 per married/cohabiting person. SVB pays accumulated holiday allowance in May. Do not add this accrual to every monthly bank payment.
5. Read your own statement
Open Payments in Mijn SVB and save the statement as PDF. Compare the same month’s household category, accrual percentage, gross amount, payroll tax, Zvw and other deductions. Keep occupational pension separate. This page does not calculate personal net income or change tax-credit settings.
6. Resolve a discrepancy
Ask SVB to explain discrepancies and report household changes officially. For a disputed decision, check its objection route and deadline. Our help request supports preparation and submits nothing automatically. See existing AOW application guidance and the official calendar for payment timing.
7. Looking for AOW amounts from 2025?
Do not use the 2026 amounts above. In the SVB previous-amounts archive choose the correct period and living situation; January–June and July–December 2025 may differ. The official publication Uitkeringsbedragen per 1 juli 2025 lists historical gross amounts and holiday allowance separately. Compare net amounts only with the same tax credit and deductions. For incomplete accrual use your own statement in Mijn SVB. Record the month and disputed line and ask SVB for an explanation; an annual total or current table does not prove an old payment was wrong.
8. What counts as living together for AOW?
SVB looks at where someone actually spends most time and shares living spaces, even without address registration. A separate unit with its own entrance, kitchen and bathroom may be distinct. Married/registered partners normally use the couple rate; a different address alone does not change this. Permanent separation requires lasting separate lives as unmarried people or a written court divorce application; SVB assesses. Unmarried people living only with their own parents/children, or only minors regardless of relationship, receive the single rate under SVB rules.
9. What about housemates or commercial renting?
With one other adult, mutual household contributions, a shared child, cohabitation contract, past partnership or registered joint household can trigger the couple rate. Commercial rent needs a contract and payment evidence, but additional shared-household facts or those relationships may override it. Otherwise the single rate is likely after assessment. With at least two other adults, SVB tests each: one qualifying relationship means couple rate, two or more single rate, none likely single rate. Use its official situation checker and report facts, not just registration.
10. What choice exists for nursing-home residence?
A nursing-home admission may allow choosing couple or single rate; first check if other adult housemates complicate it. Higher AOW is not necessarily better: Wlz contribution and income tax may rise, rent/health allowances fall, occupational pensions and Wuv/Wubo change. Existing younger-partner AOW supplement ends and the partner later has no AOW death benefit. Obtain CAK, pension and allowance calculations before requesting SVB change. Reversal to couple rate starts no earlier than next month; no further choice changes afterwards.
Does a couple receive twice the same amount?
The married rate is per person. Each must independently qualify for AOW; their accrual and deductions may differ.
